Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SleepLock collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the app. SleepLock is designed to protect your sleep by blocking selected apps and categories during a bedtime schedule you set, using Apple's Screen Time and device management technologies. SleepLock is built to keep your settings and blocking behavior on your device. The only information that leaves your device is what Apple needs to process subscriptions and purchases on your behalf.

Information We Collect or Process

Depending on how you use the app, SleepLock may collect or process the following categories of information:

Sleep Schedule and Blocking Preferences

The app stores your bedtime and wake-up window, any separate work-night and rest-night schedules, and the apps or categories you chose to block during those windows.

Blocked-App Selections

When you choose which apps and categories to block, iOS provides SleepLock with opaque tokens through Apple's Family Controls APIs. These tokens do not reveal app names to the developer.

Progress and Streak Data

The app stores protected-night counts and streak information so you can see your habit progress over time.

App Settings and Onboarding

SleepLock stores your language preference, onboarding responses, and other in-app settings so the app behaves the way you configured it.

Notification Preferences

If you enable reminders, the app stores your preference and schedules local notifications on your device.

Purchase Status

If you subscribe or buy premium access, SleepLock checks entitlement status through Apple StoreKit and stores whether premium access is active on your device.

  • Bedtime, wake-up, and rest-night schedule settings used to apply blocking windows.
  • Selected blocked-app and blocked-category tokens provided by Apple Family Controls APIs.
  • Protected-night and streak history shown inside the app.
  • App settings such as language preference and onboarding selections.
  • Notification preference and locally scheduled reminders.
  • Purchase entitlement state used to determine access to premium features.

How We Use Information

SleepLock uses processed information only to provide and maintain the app's features. This includes:

  • Scheduling app-blocking windows around your bedtime using Apple Screen Time, Device Activity, and Family Controls related frameworks.
  • Applying and removing the shield on selected apps during your sleep window.
  • Tracking protected nights and streaks so your progress stays visible.
  • Scheduling local notifications if you enable reminders.
  • Remembering your settings and selections across launches and app extensions.
  • Checking whether premium access has been purchased and restored through Apple.

In plain language, SleepLock processes information only because it is necessary to run the features you ask it to perform, such as blocking apps at bedtime, showing your streak, or restoring a purchase.

Where Information Is Stored

SleepLock is designed so that your settings and operational data stay on your device. Storage mainly happens through on-device storage and a shared App Group UserDefaults so the main app and its blocking extensions can work together.

  • Sleep schedules, blocking preferences, streaks, notification settings, onboarding answers, and premium state are stored on-device.
  • Selected app/category blocking tokens are stored in the app's shared App Group so the shielding extensions can apply your choices.
  • Scheduling snapshots may be stored locally so the app and its extensions continue functioning reliably.

SleepLock does not maintain its own user account system or cloud profile for you. There is no SleepLock login, and your blocking setup is not uploaded to a developer-controlled server.

Third-Party Services and Platform Providers

Apple Screen Time, Family Controls and Managed Settings

SleepLock uses Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings related technologies to apply the selected app-blocking behavior during your bedtime schedule.

Apple StoreKit

Subscriptions, purchases, and restore operations are handled by Apple through StoreKit. Apple may process transaction-related information under its own privacy terms.

Apple Notification Frameworks

Reminders are scheduled using Apple's notification framework on your device. These are local notifications, not a third-party push notification service integrated by SleepLock.

How Information Is Shared

SleepLock does not sell your personal information. It is not built around advertising or behavioral profiling. Information is shared only when needed to provide a feature you use.

  • Purchase-related information is processed by Apple when you subscribe, buy, or restore premium access.
  • Blocking selections and schedule data may be shared between the app and its own extensions through the shared App Group on your device.

What SleepLock Does Not Use

SleepLock does not currently include:

  • Third-party analytics SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or Amplitude.
  • Advertising SDKs or in-app ad networks.
  • Third-party crash reporting tools such as Crashlytics or Sentry.
  • Location collection or location-based features.
  • A standalone account system with usernames, passwords, or profile hosting by the developer.
  • App Tracking Transparency based cross-app tracking for advertising purposes.

Retention, Security, and Your Choices

Retention

On-device information is generally retained until you change it, reset the app, or remove the app from your device. Data handled by Apple is retained according to Apple's own policies.

Security

SleepLock relies on iOS platform protections and on-device storage mechanisms. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but the app is designed to keep data on your device and minimize external data sharing.

Your Choices

  • You can change your sleep schedule, rest-night schedules, and blocked apps or categories at any time.
  • You can revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings, which disables blocking.
  • You can disable reminders in the app or in iOS Settings.
  • You can remove the app to delete locally stored app data from your device, subject to normal iOS behavior.

Children, Policy Updates, and Contact

Children's Privacy

SleepLock is not intentionally designed to collect personal information from children through its own account system or direct marketing infrastructure. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that raises a privacy concern, contact the developer using the details below.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. When this happens, the updated policy will be published with a revised effective date.
